How our fees work
Lead with bank payments and keep more of every invoice
ACH bank payments are a flat 1% capped at $5 — about $4 on a $1,000 invoice. The same invoice paid by card runs roughly $29, because the card networks set that rate, not us.
Make ACH the default on your invoices and card a one-tap backup, and the savings compound on every single payment — with no monthly bill skimming off the top.

~25× cheaper!Transparent fees
What it actually costs to get paid
No hidden markups. ACH is a flat 1% capped at $5. Cards run at the standard processor rate — we pass them through, we don't beat the card networks.
ACH bank payments
1% capped at $5
The lowest-cost way to get paid. Money moves bank-to-bank and skips the card networks, so a $1,000 invoice costs about $4 to collect. Make ACH the default and the savings add up fast.
Card payments
~2.9% + 30¢ per charge
Standard debit and credit card processing — the same rate the card networks set. We don't mark it up, and we don't claim to beat it. Offer cards for convenience when a client prefers them.
| Invoice amount | ACH fee | Card fee (est.) |
|---|---|---|
| $250 | ~$2.50 | ~$7.55 |
| $1,000 | ~$4.00 | ~$29.30 |
| $5,000 | ~$5.00 | ~$145.30 |
Card figures are estimates at ~2.9% + 30¢ for illustration; your exact rate depends on card type. ACH is a flat 1% capped at $5 per payment.
Cost comparison
The math against a $19/month tool
Subscription tools charge you whether or not you send a single invoice. Stop paying a monthly fee and a year looks very different.

Wave Pro (incumbent)
$228 / year
$19/month, billed whether you invoice once or a hundred times — plus payment processing fees on top.
PayNugget Free
$0 / year
No subscription at all. You pay only the per-transaction fee when a client pays — and ACH keeps that low.
Pro features
When it's worth upgrading to Pro
Free covers invoicing and getting paid for most businesses. Pro adds the tooling teams need as they grow — for a flat $12/month, never a cut of your payments.
Multiple team members
Give bookkeepers, partners, and staff their own logins with the right access, so you can bill and collaborate as a team instead of sharing one password.
Advanced reporting & branding
Deeper revenue, aging, and payment reports with richer exports — plus your logo, colors, and identity front and center on every invoice and payment page.
Recurring invoices & priority support
Automate retainers and subscriptions so repeat clients bill on schedule, and jump the queue to our real human support team when you need an answer fast.

Upgrading never changes what you pay to accept money. ACH and card fees are identical on Free and Pro — the $12/month only unlocks software, never your payments.

Pricing questions, answered honestly
Fees, plans, and what you actually pay — no fine print.
- Is PayNugget really free?
- Yes. The Free plan has no monthly subscription. You can create unlimited invoices, add unlimited clients, and get paid without ever paying us a recurring fee. You only pay a small processing fee when a client actually pays an invoice — and ACH bank payments cost a fraction of card payments.
- What are the per-transaction fees?
- ACH bank payments are a flat 1% capped at $5 per payment — about $4 on a $1,000 invoice. Card payments run at the standard processor rate of roughly 2.9% + 30 cents. We don't mark cards up beyond what the networks charge; the savings come from steering clients to ACH, not from beating card rates.
- Why is ACH so much cheaper than cards?
- Card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) charge interchange and assessment fees on every card transaction — typically around 2.9% plus a fixed per-transaction fee. ACH moves money directly between bank accounts and skips those networks, so it costs far less. On a $1,000 invoice that's roughly $4 by ACH versus about $29 by card.
- Do you beat credit card processing fees?
- No, and we won't pretend to. The ~2.9% card network rate is set by Visa and Mastercard, not by us. We pass cards through at standard rates. Where PayNugget saves you money is the $0 subscription and low-cost ACH — offer bank payments as the default and most of your invoice value stays with you.
- When do I actually pay a fee?
- Only when money lands. If you send an invoice and it doesn't get paid, you owe nothing. There are no setup fees, no monthly minimums, and no charge for sending invoices or estimates. Fees are deducted from each payment as it settles, so you never get a surprise bill.
- What do I get with the Pro plan for $12/month?
- Pro adds power features for growing businesses: multiple team members with their own logins, advanced reporting and exports, custom invoice branding, and priority access to our human support team. Everything in Free is still included, and the per-transaction payment fees are exactly the same on both plans.
- Do payment fees change on the Pro plan?
- No. ACH and card processing fees are identical on Free and Pro. The $12/month only unlocks software features — it never changes what you pay to accept a payment.
- Can I cancel Pro or switch plans anytime?
- Yes. Pro is month-to-month with no contract. Cancel whenever you like and you drop back to the Free plan — you keep all your invoices, clients, and history. There's no penalty and no data held hostage.
- How does this compare to Wave's $19/month?
- Wave moved its core invoicing and payments features behind a $19/month Pro plan. PayNugget keeps invoicing and getting paid free at $0/month and offers low-cost ACH without a subscription. Even our optional Pro tier is $12/month — and you can run your whole business on Free.
- Is there a contract or long-term commitment?
- No contracts on either plan. Free is free forever, and Pro is billed monthly with no commitment. You can export all your data in one click at any time, so you're never locked in.
- Can I export my data if I leave?
- Always. One-click export of your customers and invoices is included on every plan, free. Your data is yours — there's no lock-in and no fee to take it with you.
- Is PayNugget available outside the US?
- Not yet. PayNugget is US-only for now and requires a US bank account to receive ACH and card payments. We're focused on getting US small-business billing right before expanding.
